Public meeting – Brollagh

The current plans for fracking in Fermanagh include up to sixty frack pads, approximately one mile apart, covering 40,000 acres, with a real possibility that the development may extend to three times the size. To find out more about the proposals and their implications for our county, come along to a public meeting at 8 pm on Monday, 5 November at St Mary’s High School, Brollagh, Belleek. The meeting will provide facts and information about shale gas extraction and its effects upon agriculture, tourism, jobs, water and air quality, fishing and human and animal health. The guest speaker will be Eddie Mitchell, a local farmer and builder, who is currently completing his Master’s degree in energy management and focusing his dissertation on unconventional gas extraction in the north-west of Ireland. All are very welcome to what we expect to be a fascinating and eye-opening evening.

Faith and Fracking

On Wednesday 24th October, at 8pm in the Clinton Centre, Enniskillen, FFAN and Operation Noah Enniskillen are jointly hosting an event called Faith and Fracking.  The evening will be an opportunity to explore the implications of fracking for people of faith, especially in the light of our call to care for creation, to love our neighbour and to live in peace with one another.  There will be a brief presentation of the facts about shale gas extraction and proposals for Fermanagh, followed by reflections and discussions.  The evening will be faciliated by Rev. Dr. Scott Peddie who is both an ordained minister and scientist, and skilled in exploring issues of how faith can be lived out in the society of today.  All are very welcome, those of any faith or of none, and we look forward to an evening of shared understanding, fellowship and hope.  Please let others know about this event and if you would like posters or flyers to distribute in your church or group, please contact Tanya at info@frackaware.com
